When an opportunity comes along to expand an existing plant and create more jobs, everyone involved wants to work toward that end. The situation at A. Raymond Tinnerman was ripe for expansion. The plant has been expanded four times over the past 50 years, according to Plant Manager Bill Breeze. The new expansion called for some celebration. Gov. Steve Beshear joined Fleming County officials and company representatives to announce the expansion of A. Raymond Tinnerman Manufacturing Flemingsburg. The company, which currently supplies products primarily to the automotive industry, will add 28 new jobs to its employment base of 38 and invest approximately $515,000 as a result of the expansion. “Kentucky is excited to partner with A. Raymond Tinnerman on its latest expansion, creating 28 new jobs for the citizens of Fleming County,” said Gov. Beshear. “The company’s decision to invest in its Flemingsburg facility, diversifying its product line and securing its long-term commitment to the Commonwealth, speaks volumes about the quality of workforce and pro-business climate Kentucky offers, and it would not have been possible without the modernization of the state’s business incentives toolbox we achieved in last year’s special session.” A. Raymond Tinnerman is a roll form and large stamping manufacturing plant, operating in Flemingsburg since 1959. The company produces window channel guides, sunroof components and structural components for the automotive industry. In November 2009, A. Raymond acquired Zimmerman’s North American plants, which is allowing the company to become more industrial-product based. The expansion will enable the company to now manufacture new products for the solar and building industries. “It is great to be a part of the state of Kentucky, a Commonwealth that has state and local government representatives who care about economic development and the future of the people,” said Bill Breeze, plant manager of A. Raymond Tinnerman. “Gov. Beshear and his Cabinet members are to be commended for working hard to keep and create jobs in Kentucky and for building a future for the upcoming generations.” Officials from A. Raymond Tinnerman were on hand at the plant Tuesday to comment on the expansion. “We look for sustainable long term growth,” said VP of Ray Group Dirk Hoffman. That growth incorporates the automotive and industrial activities of the company. “Flemingsburg can benefit from the best of both worlds.” Hoffman said the goal was to double the pant in five years and adding 28 jobs to the existing 38 nearly meets that goal. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved A. Raymond Tinnerman Manufacturing Flemingsburg for tax incentives up to $515,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The incentive can be earned over a 15-year period through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments. “I am very excited about the news that one of Fleming County’s long-time employers will be expanding its workforce,” said Larry H. Foxworthy, Fleming County Judge Executive. “Since 1959, this manufacturing facility has been a very important part of Fleming County’s economic growth and we are pleased to have A. Raymond Tinnerman in our community. We also thank Gov. Beshear and his economic development staff for their support of this project and to be able to bring these much needed jobs to our community in these very tough economic times.” Mayor Louie Flanery spoke briefly to thank the governor for his support of Flemingsburg and Fleming County. “A. Raymond Tinnerman Manufacturing Inc. has been a stable company in our community for 51 years and we are very proud to have them,” Flanery said. “I want to thank Gov. Beshear and the Economic Development staff for their efforts.” |
