Flemingsburg Police Department has reported the escape of a 13 year old boy who was arrested for speeding and other charges.
According to Chief Randy Sergent, the male had been transported from
the Ashland Juvenile Detention Center to Flemingsburg for a hearing
Monday afternoon.
“He was being held in the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office when he
escaped,” Sergent said. Officers began searching for the male
immediately.
The speeding incident happened Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3:43 a.m. when a Bath County youth was observed by Flemingsburg Police Major Falon Fugett. The vehicle with boy at the wheel was stopped in the roadway on Mt. Carmel Ave. Fugett approached the vehicle to investigate the problem and the 13 year old male took off at a high rate of speed. According to the police report, at times the vehicle went over 100 mph. Fugett chased the driver down Mt. Carmel Road toward Beechburg. The 13 year old male stopped in the Beechburg area and exited the vehicle. As the boy got out of the vehicle, Fugett made the arrest and charged the boy with receiving stolen property, first-degree fleeing police, speeding and reckless driving.
