A firefighter and a former University of Kentucky basketball player
were indicted by a Fleming County grand jury Nov. 6. The grand jury
also handed down 14 other indictments.
Christopher D. Royse, 18, was indicted on two counts of second-degree
arson for two fires in the Hillsboro area. Royse was a volunteer
firefighter with the Hillsboro Fire Department at the time he allegedly
set the fires that burned tow mobile homes. The homes did not belong to
Royse.
Ed Davender, 43, was indicted Friday for theft by deception after he
allegedly accepted $748 in exchange for two UK men’s basketball season
tickets that he never delivered.

Christopher D. Royse, 18, was indicted on two counts of second-degree arson for two fires in the Hillsboro area. Davender, who was a UK guard from 1984-88, was indicted on similar charges in Harrison County on Nov. 3. Moises Hernandez, 41, was also indicted Friday by the Fleming County grand jury. He was charged with first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual contact with boy under the age of 12 in August 2009. Also indicted: --Tyrell Bluford, 21,first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana. -- Stacey W. Boone, 33, complicity to fraudulent insurance acts over $300. -- Johnny Craig Jr., 21, first-degree burglary, two counts second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property. Matthew C. Gardner, 28, theft by unlawful taking over $500, second-degree fleeing or evading the police, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, second-degree persistent felony offender. Dewey Hall, Jr., 59, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. Joshua D. Hall, 18, second-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $500, receiving stolen property less than $500. Charles W. Hopper, 28, second-degree burglary. Shane C. Johnson, 23, first-degree fail jumping. Billy T. Jolly, 33, four counts fraudulent insurance acts over $300. Robert T. Marshall, 20, two counts third-degree burglary, receiving stolen property. Betty Short, 38, first-degree complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance, complicity to trafficking in marijuana, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance or complicity to do the same, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia. Ralph G. Short, 46, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Ernest E. Young, 22, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, falsely reporting an incident, operating a motor vehicle on suspended or revoked operator’s license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle, failure to produce insurance card.
